Creating space between me and COVID

By Max Eati with support from their sibling Mark Eati

Covid covid covid Everywhere I hear talks about you I analyze you under a microscope And start to feel you in my head

I try to sample you in my body You explode into my bloodstream And multiply in my cells

You create phobia in me We brainstorm about you I don’t like to be around you

I wish people could walk in my shoes To know how you dominate my fears

My body has immunity to many viruses You are more dangerous than others And I know you can outsmart me

I dare you to come close Or try to scare me out of my mind I will bat you before you enter my house or my throat

I run towards you to learn about you I run away from you to proactively protect myself and my family

I knew when you entered our streets in Minnesota Alas why does it take so long for people to recognize and act in safety

It’s critical people understand That every life lost questions our integrity In taking responsibility to keeping COVID like creatures away

We will be stronger overtime And we will be less infected by you I look forward To that day to bring myself back to school
